DHCC team relocates to its new premises

The Dubai Healthcare City team has moved into its newly-built headquarters located behind Grand Hyatt in Oud Metha Road. The operations at the new premises have been functional for more than 5 weeks. “We are on site and operational,” stated Suhail Al Ansari, DHCC Marketing & Communications Manager. “ We have been waiting for the premises at the Dubai Healthcare City site to get ready, and now we are in place and ready to forge ahead to make Dubai Healthcare City the most preferred healthcare and wellness centre in the region,” he added. The three key arms of the Dubai Healthcare City that have relocated are its Administration staff, the Centre for Healthcare Planning and Quality (CPQ) and the Harvard Medical School Dubai Centre (HMSDC). Providing updates on the DHCC, Al Ansari said that as far as the Outpatient Services are concerned as of May 2005, the total number of approved operators was 69 excluding the hospitals. This includes six Day Surgery Centres, 20 Polyclinics or specialised clinics, three Dental Clinics, two Clinical Laboratories, 10 sales and marketing offices, two Counseling, Training and Development Centers, 19 Medical Offices and two Nutrition Centres. The Inpatient Services at DHCC includes 350-400 bed University Teaching Hospital, two 200-bed General Hospitals and two 40-bed Specialty Hospitals. Besides, applications for four 200-bed Specialty Hospitals are under review and two 150-bed Psychiatry & Rehabilitation Hospitals are also under evaluation. The other services at DHCC will include Cardiology, Cosmetic Surgery, Dentistry, Dermatology, Diabetes, Endocrinology, ENT/otolaryngology, Family Medicine, Gastroenterology, General Surgery, Geriatrics, Internal Medicine, Neurology, Neurosurgery, Obstetrics & Gynecology, Occupational Medicine, Ophthalmology, Orthopedics, Pain Management, Physical Medicine, Psychiatry/ Psychology, Pulmonology, Respiratory Medicine, Radiology, Urology/Andrology and Anesthesia. He said that Administration and the Centre for Healthcare Planning and Quality and the Harvard Medical School Dubai Centre, are three key elements of Dubai Healthcare City. “With being on site of these three key elements, we are sending out the signal to stakeholders, partners, clients and all associated, that we are open for business at the site.” Harvard Medical School Dubai Centre, will be led by Dr. Robert L. Thurer, MD as Chief Academic Officer. From the faculty’s base at Dubai Healthcare City Harvard Medical School Dubai Centre will develop, implement and manage postgraduate and continuing medical education programmes in Dubai, as well as the develop postgraduate training opportunities at Harvard Medical School-affiliated and other internationally recognised academic healthcare institutions. Harvard Medical School Dubai Centre faculty will also participate in the implementation of quality management and clinical planning programs within DHCC as they relate to the academic activities of healthcare providers located there. The Centre for Healthcare Planning and Quality (CPQ) has been formed by Dubai Healthcare City and Harvard Medical International (HMI). The joint initiative will oversee healthcare quality management, training, licensing and accreditation within DHCC. The underlying goal of the CPQ is to support continuous improvement across every aspect of the medical complex. Moving forward, the CPQ will also offer its services in health systems development and professional development to organisations throughout the Gulf.
