Dubai Holding picks CEO for newly launched Dubai Energy

Dubai Holding has announced the appointment of Ahmad Sharaf as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the newly launched Dubai Energy, a member of Dubai Holding, which will spearhead its investments in strategic regional and global energy opportunities.
Ahmad Sharaf will lead the team of Dubai Energy to focus on building a diversified global energy investment portfolio and further strengthening regional and international alliances.
Ahmad Sharaf said, “I am honored to have been entrusted to lead Dubai Energy into playing a pivotal role in the dynamic global energy landscape. The establishment of Dubai Energy will attract Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) and invest in strategic international energy opportunities that will broaden our trade relationships regionally and globally.”
He added, “The company will actively evaluate key oil and gas prospects with leading international companies and screen potential equity investments in the broad energy sector.”
Ahmad Sharaf brings valuable experience and knowledge to his new position. Prior to this appointment, he was the Vice-President - Business Development (Middle East) for ConocoPhillips, one of the world’s largest integrated energy companies, and he has held various senior-level technical and commercial positions regionally and in the United States.
Ahmad Sharaf has a Masters in Business Administration from the prestigious Duke University - Fuqua School of Business. He also has a Masters of Science and a Bachelor of Science in Petroleum Engineering from the renowned Colorado School of Mines. His career commenced in 1989 with Dubai Petroleum Company and he has also served as the Country Manager for ConocoPhillips in Saudi Arabia.
