The Kids Press Club has been holding a host of activities aimed at giving the young participants a behind- the – scenes look at the world of journalism. The Kids Press Club programme organized by the Dubai Press Club is sponsored by Dubai eGovernment. It has attracted huge participation from children interested in creative and media related activities chalked out for the summer.
Shahla Kashif, Coordinator for the Kids Press Club said, “A varied programme has been prepared to give the kids an opportunity to express their talents with spontaneity and be educative and entertaining at the same time. The first week included outlining the important role of media and the journalistic writing style, newspaper layouts and principles of web designing. This was complemented by familiarization with the art of photography and field trip to the Ibn Battuta Mall where the kids had the opportunity to apply the theories to practice.”
“During the second week children learned about the principles of public relations. The participants also visited the Dubai Media City which included a rare opportunity to visit the MBC3 studios and Space Toon Channel which provided them with a glimpse into the workings of television channels.” Shahla Kashif added.
Kids Press Club participants expressed their delight in taking part in the programme, and showed interest in the activities organized by the Club. The idea behind the programme is to acquaint youngsters with basic concepts of Media, Advertising and Public Relations and to give them a feeling of how this challenging world functions.
The 20 selected young participants with age limit of 10-15 will enjoy the hands on experience approach as they will write their own news releases, design fliers, brochures and news letters and organize a real press conference upon the completion of the programme to share their experiences with the press and their families and friends
