DTCM sponsors key Lufthansa conference

July 24, 2005
Country: Swaziland
Client(s): DTCM , Lufthansa
The Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM) has assisted the German airline Lufthansa in hosting its Annual Area Management Sales & Station Conference 2005 recently. The meeting discussed the increase in seat capacity from Frankfurt to Dubai for the winter season to meet the demand of the growing number of visitors to the emirate. This will be effective from October 2005 and the airline using a Boeing 747 instead of an Airbus 340-300. In addition, the conference also discussed Lufthansa's decision to fly daily again from Munich to Dubai with an Airbus, thus bringing back the total number of weekly flights from 10 at present to 14. Held from July 19 to 21 at the Jumeirah Emirates Towers Hotel, the conference was attended by 170 Lufthansa officials from East Asia, Africa and the Middle East regions. The DTCM was the main sponsor of the conference which had as its key element a 'Dialogue Forum' which served as a platform for bi-lateral discussions and exchange of ideas and information between the Lufthansa Head Units, Partners and the Sales organizations. The department, represented by the DTCM Manager Missions, Mr. Hamad bin Mejren, had set-up a booth at the forum providing tourism brochures and DVDs. The conference offered insights to the visiting delegates about what Dubai had to offer and would enable them participants in promoting Dubai to more visitors from Europe. The delegates were impressed with the facilities and the new developments underway in Dubai. The number of German passengers passing through the Dubai International Airport saw a 23.8 per cent increase in 2004 over the previous year while the number of Dubai hotel establishment guests saw a 50.8 per cent increase during the same period. The number of German companies in Dubai too increased by 27 percent during the same period.
