Sharjah City Centre encourages community talent

August 10, 2006
Country: Swaziland
Client(s): Sharjah City Centre
Graphic Art and Communication Technology students at Sharjah Women’s College - Higher College of Technology (HCT) recently exhibited their summer campaign at Sharjah City Centre. As part of the Advertising - internship programme, Sharjah City Centre invited HCT students to work closely with some of the leading retailers at the centre to devise and developing a mock advertising campaign for their summer promotion. Approximately ten students worked with Sharjah City Centre, Areej, Adidas, Baby Shop, Bhs, Costa, Grand Optics, Levis, 4 Kids, and Nine West during the month of April and May. “When HCT approached us with the idea of working with some of the centre’s leading retailers we decided to go ahead with it as this exercise would enable students to work on real brands and create real campaigns, ” explained Yousif Ali, GM, SCC. “As the leading community centre located in the heart of Sharjah, we believe it is our responsibility to provide young students with a platform to showcase their skills, this was an interesting idea hence we decided to partner with HCT,” added Yousif. In a private ceremony held recently at Sharjah City Centre, the students unveiled their advertising campaigns to the retail stores. The work was exhibited at the centre for one full week. “Hundreds of customers visiting the centre stopped by to take a look at the creative talent blooming in the Emirate of Sharjah and comment on the students campaigns,” observed Yousif.
