Coaching Drives Human Resources Workshop

January 29, 2008
Country: Swaziland
Client(s): British University in Dubai
Dubai, United Arab Emirates The British University in Dubai (BUiD) is set to open its cornerstone “HRM in Practice” series with an inaugural workshop, devoted to the theme of coaching. Led and facilitated by Mr. Robin Harding, an independent coach with over 30 years experience in the oil and gas industry, the workshop will be organised around four speakers discussing the most topical aspects of human resources management (HRM) in the region. For BUiD Vice Chancellor Dr. Abdullah M. Alshamsi, the development of dedicated HRM resources allows his institution to serve the local community by sharing best practice. “Launching this series of events continues in the fine BUiD tradition of inviting working professionals to participate in our public events,” he declared. Invited speakers include Mrs. Fatma Al Hashimi, Head of Publication & Documentation Unit, Tanmia, who will address the theme “Towards an Effective National H.R. Development Partnership between Tanmia and Employers in both the Private and Public Sectors” in a paper drawing upon her extensive experience. These insights will be reinforced by Professor Ashly Pinnington, Dean of the Faculty of Business at The British University in Dubai. Professor Pinnington has identified coaching as an important feature of employee development, not least because it is practiced widely across most workplaces. “This workshop provides a chance to discuss the relevance of coaching for organisations throughout the UAE,” said Pinnington. “Everyone spends at least some time in their working lives coaching other people, and in recent years this has been supplemented by a range of innovative initiatives in the workplace.” The HR workshop takes place on Wednesday, 30th January 2008 between 10am to 4pm at The British University in Dubai auditorium, Block 17, Knowledge Village. The workshop is being organised as a part of BUiD’s initiative to impart knowledge on best practice in HRM for managers and HR professionals in the region. Admission is free to the public, with training and development officers strongly encouraged to attend. BUiD will be conducting a series of Workshops in the year 2008 on various Human Resources topics.
