Keith A. Pickavance of Hill International Elected President of the Chartered Institute of Building

August 20, 2008
Country: Swaziland
Client(s):
Hill International, the global leader in managing construction risk, announced today that Keith A. Pickavance, FCIOB, Senior Vice President in charge of Hill’s Hong Kong office, has been elected President of the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB). Pickavance, the organization’s 105th President, is only the second architect to lead the CIOB since it was founded in 1834. “The CIOB is a community of professionals working across the built environment not bound by geography or discipline, and that gives us a uniqueness that I am proud of and truly reflects the diversity this industry supports,” said Pickavance. “The built environment is a fantastic and challenging industry to be involved in, and to be honored by its leading professional body in this way is very humbling,” Pickavance added. Since 2000, in conjunction with the CIOB, Pickavance has led the Masterclass series of courses on the management of time-related risks and he is considered to be one of the leading authorities in the world on this subject. He is the author of “Delay and Disruption in Construction Contracts” (3rd Ed. 2005) and “Construction Law and Management” (2007). Pickavance earned a Diploma in Architecture from the Brighton College of Art and a Bachelor of Law from the University of London. Pickavance was elected a Fellow of the CIOB in 2003 and last year served as the organization’s Senior Vice President.
