Abu Dhabi International Book Fair

March 01, 2010 - March 02, 2010
Venue: Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre
City: Abu Dhabi
Country: UAE
Category: Exhibitions

With 482 exhibitors from 42 countries at Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre, the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair is becoming the largest bookstore in the region. Book worms participate in discussions, meet authors and watch European poetry and literature performances.

Lovers of the written word have the opportunity to follow public interviews with celebrity authors such as Alaa al-Aswany, the 2007 Prince of Poets Kareem Matouq, Samar al-Mouqrin and Khairy Shalaby on the newly launched KITAB Sofa in the Atrium. Many more read, discuss and sign books. These events are translated simultaneously. A new addition to the fair is the Textbox, a platform for two young German poets to demonstrate innovative ways of presenting poetry and prose.

Although the fair caters to the Arabic speaking world, it also attracts many international publishers, as almost three quarters of the population in the United Arab Emirates are foreigners and predominantly English speakers.
