Across the Middle East there are a number of hugely ambitious, multi-billion dollar infrastructure master plans being proposed. This is primarily to cope with the recent population explosion and to boost economic modernisation. Now governments and municipalities alike are investing in infrastructure as a means to stimulate the economy.

Industry experts are seeking best practice approach and better tools for designing and building sustainable, future proof rail infrastructure. Major projects are planned across the MENA region, including Abu Dhabi Metro, GCC Rail Network, Kuwait National Rail Network, UAE Railway, Doha Rail Network and Haramain high-speed rail project (HHR) rail design. Financing and engineering rail projects will be a key construction focus for the immediate future.

Rail Infrastructure Middle East 2009, has been initiated as a major platform for rail professionals from all over the world to engage in a variety of discussions focusing on financing, designing and constructing rail projects in the region.

The agenda for Rail Infrastructure Middle East 2009 has been designed with the aim of providing insight into the many complex issues surrounding major rail projects, and understanding the benefits and challenges associated with the various different types of rail technologies. Through detailed presentations, unique case studies, interactive panel discussions and four comprehensive workshops, this event will address the critical challenges that will be overcome if world-class and cost-effective rail structures are to be delivered. - Ensuring sustainability: Meeting the highest environmental standards, promoting energy efficiency and preparing for imminent regulation
