World Future Energy Summit - a global, collaborative platform that draws the world to Abu Dhabi

The single most important event of its kind worldwide for stakeholders in energy and environment, the World Future Energy Summit takes place each year in Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates and chosen home base of the newly-created International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA).

WFES combines a high-powered conference track with the Future Energy and Future Environment exhibitions held under the WFES umbrella, to present a showcase opportunity for on-ground, business solutions to the challenges that the world confronts in the Energy and Environment domains.

Previous WFES speakers have included Britain’s HRH Prince Charles, HRH Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands, President Olafur Grimsson of Iceland and Former British Prime Minister Tony Blair, Former U.S. Energy Secretary Samuel Bodman and Dr. Rajendra Pachauri, Chairman of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change.

World Future Energy Summit in 2010

The third World Future Energy Summit takes place from 18 to 21 January 2010 at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre and builds on its previous two editions to create a collaborative platform to tackle policy, innovation and investment issues surrounding renewable energy.

Royalty, heads of state, top government officials, scientists, environmental experts, global business leaders and finance and industry professionals will attend WFES, to present their views, explore solutions, build networks and collaborate.

Confirmed speakers at the next WFES include HE President Karolos Papoulias of Greece; Katrina Landis, Group Vice President of BP Alternative Energy; Kevin Parker, Global Head of Deutsche Asset Management and a member of Deutsche Bank's Group Executive Committee, Right Honorable Jesca Eriyo, Uganda's Minister of State for Environment; Richard Jones, Deputy Executive Director of IEA; Dr. Tariq Ali, Vice President of Research and Industry Relations, MIST (Masdar Institute of Science & Technology); Professor Ernest Moniz, MIT Director of Energy Initiative; Maria van der Hoeven from the Netherlands' Ministry of Economic Affairs and Professor Nigel Brandon, Shell Chair in sustainable development in energy from London's Imperial College.

Public and private sector organizations that will participate at the exhibition will include Masdar, GE Energy, Siemens, Enviromena, Mubadala, ADWEA and Emal, among others.
