Dell receives alliance of the year award at symantec miena partner summit

July 02, 2009
Country: UAE
Client(s): Dell FZ-LLC

On June 9 at an evening awards ceremony in front of industry representatives, Dell received the Alliance of the Year award at the Symantec Middle East and North Africa (MENA) partner Summit 2009 in Dubai at the Park Hyatt hotel.
During the ceremony, Katie Spurgeon, Symantec Channel Manager for MENA, said this year’s award was given to Dell “in recognition of its remarkable revenue contribution and year-on-year growth.  Dell’s reward came due to the efforts it placed into making the channel model a great success, reaching out to new customers and acting as their trusted advisors. Dell has an excellent understanding of customers' needs and positions the right solutions to solve their IT challenges.”

Dave Brooke, general manager of Dell Middle East, received the award on behalf of the Dell team.
“This award brings Dell and Symantec’s collaboration even closer and reiterates the commitment both teams have towards their ongoing business through Dell’s management console powered by Altiris from Symantec,” said Dave Brooke.

Dell Management Console (DMC) was announced in April 2009 as part of the Dell’s next-generation of PowerEdge servers.
DMC provides a single view into the deployment, inventory, monitoring and updating of customers’ IT infrastructure and is designed to address everything from basic hardware management applications to advanced enterprise management.

When compared to a leading competitor’s solution, researchers found that Dell users only needed a single console, whereas the competitor solution may require up to nine or more consoles. This powerful tool sets the stage for a strong collaboration between both companies and helps position it with large enterprises in the Middle East.
A series of workshops around the region from both Dell and Symantec has marked the start of the Middle East collaboration, and many other activities have been planned for the year to reinforce the systems management combined message.
