A divorced father-of-four who boasted about his sex antics on a popular Saudi television programme plans to launch a legal case against producers claiming he was not represented in a fair light, Saudi daily Arab News reported on Monday.Mazen Abdul Jawad sparked outrage when he appeared on LBC's Red Line talking about how he became interested in sex after sleeping with his neighbour when he was 14 years old, according to local media reports.
He went on to give graphic descriptions on foreplay and provided a recipe for an aphrodisiac.
Jawad was arrested following the broadcast, which sparked more than 100 complaints to Jeddah’s summary court, local media reported.
"We will study the case and eventually present it to the Ministry of Information," Ashraf al-Sarraj, the lawyer representing Jawad in his complaint against LBC, was quoted as saying by Arab News.
The 32-year-old airline employee claims the show’s producers edited two hours of footage into one minute to make him appear in the worst possible manner.
The show profiles Arabs from different backgrounds and is known for tackling issues such as homosexuality and adoption.
Jawad has started a campaign to clear his name, as the public and authorities discuss what should happen to him if charged and found guilty of publicising vice and/or confessing to pre-marital sex, Arab News reported.
Saudi Arabia follows an ultra conservative form of Islam. Sex outside of marriage and the mixing of unmarried men and women carry a jail sentence and lashes.
Arab News also said local media reports that Jawad was currently in jail were inaccurate.
