Flash Entertainment announces The Killers to perform Abu Dhabi on December 8th, 2009

September 28, 2009
Country: UAE
Client(s): Flash Entertainment

Another coup for Flash, as the capital sees the multi-platinum band take to the stage. The Killers, a wildly-popular Las Vegas rock band, will be making their Middle Eastern debut in Abu Dhabi on Tuesday 8th December 2009. The Killers, known for their epic concerts and grand showmanship, draw on dance, pop and rock influences to create a critically-acclaimed sound of their own – one that is guaranteed to have revellers on their feet from the opening set through to the final encore. The Killers’ performance represents another top-tier booking for Flash, event specialists committed to bringing high-stature acts to the UAE.

The Killers shot onto the music scene with their 2004 debut album, Hot Fuss, which garnered five American Grammy nominations and went multi-platinum. NME (UK) has called the band’s repertoire of edgy, high-energy songs and inventive lyrics a “...head-mashingly brilliant arsenal of tunes....”

Fresh from headlining major European festivals such as V 2009 and T in the Park 2009, the foursome are renowned for delivering sell-out shows across the globe as they tour to promote their third studio album, 2008’s Day and Age. The band consistently fills large venues with thousands of voices, all singing the quirky, unforgettable choruses dreamt up by flamboyant front-man, Brandon Flowers. Joined by David Keuning on guitar, Mark Stoermer on bass, and Ronnie Vannucci on drums, vocalist/keyboardist Flowers is a born entertainer with the panache to pull off bold, new-age rock anthems like smash hit, ‘All These Things That I’ve Done.’

Managing Director of Flash, John Lickrish commented, “Flash is thrilled to be bringing The Killers to Abu Dhabi. Securing a group of their cult-stature and recognition within the music industry is a key step forward for us in developing the concert scene in Abu Dhabi, taking it beyond being able to offer only the mainstream, high profile, international artists to our audiences. As always, our concert-goers for The Killers will enjoy a premium event, from the outstanding venue and surroundings; to the generous parking set-up; the plentiful F&B outlets and the on-site DJ’s and entertainment. Every ticket holder will be guaranteed a great night.”

The Killers embrace musical influences from the Cure and Duran Duran to Bruce Springsteen and the Beatles. From catchy synth-pop to rock ballads with a funky edge, they’ve blown the top off the charts with international hits like ‘Mr. Brightside,’ ‘Smile Like You Mean It,’ ‘Jenny Was a Friend of Mine,’ ‘Somebody Told Me,’ ‘When You Were Young’ and ‘Human.’
