Jordan Dubai Capital Supports the Hikmat Road Safety Initiative

October 13, 2009
Country: UAE , Jordan
Client(s):

As part of its belief in the importance of supporting the consolidation of road safety regulations, Jordan Dubai Capital (JD Capital) announced the signing of a cooperation agreement with the Hikmat Road Safety initiative. The aim of the agreement is to support the Hikmat Road Safety initiative in cooperation with the Greater Amman Municipality, which focuses on serving the community and reducing the number of injuries and fatalities that result from road accidents. To achieve this, the initiative implements various activities and programs that seek to develop a national strategy for road safety to raise awareness on road safety regulations and improve the infrastructure of various facilities and services including roads, schools and parks.

JD Capital's participation in this initiative stems from its belief in the pivotal role that the initiative plays in building a safer and more secure society. JD Capital and the Greater Amman Municipality will be supporting the establishment of the "Al Huda Park" in the Jbeha area in order to provide the park's visitors, especially those of which are families and children, with an ideal and safe environment to play in, particularly since it is an extremely crowded area, which compliments the project's objectives.

Commenting on the company's support to this initiative, His Excellency Samir Al-Rifa’i, CEO of JD Capital, said: "The exceptional and steadfast efforts put forth by the Hikmat initiative has drawn our attention due to their noteworthy success in serving as a catalyst for positive change within the community, which is an achievement that is worthy of support and encouragement. This initiative has been the result of a painful personal experience that has transformed into a positive undertaking that benefits others. It was built on a sincere belief that each of us carries the responsibility to make a positive change, which is our vision at Jordan Dubai Capital one that we hope will be adopted by all members of society so that we can work together as one and exceed all expectations."

In turn, Mr. Maher Kaddoura, founder of Hikmat Road Safety, expressed how pleased he was with the steps that have been taken by the initiative and said: "We appreciate the cooperation of Jordan Dubai Capital and the Greater Amman Municipality, which has been another driver for us to continue our work and achieve tangible results. We strive to enhance our cooperation with all members of society, both individuals and institutions alike, through all our programs so that we can have safer schools, streets and neighborhoods and so that the concept of road safety and the adoption of all its regulations is a common practice for both individuals and the community at large."

The initiative has already proven that is has made an impact in improving the level of road safety and individual security on the road; statistics show that the number of fatalities resulting from road accidents has decreased by 10% in the first five months of 2009 in comparison to the first five months in 2008, and by 30.4% in comparison to the same period in 2007 which translates to a difference of 99 individuals.
