Client(s):

International Humanitarian City (IHC), a global humanitarian and aid hub set up by the Government of Dubai, has announced that it is discussing several key initiatives with the representative of the Swiss Agency for Development & Cooperation (SDC), within the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs. IHC’s CEO, Makiya Al Hajiri (pictured) met with Barbara Daetwyler (pictured), the head of the SDC delegation to discuss future partnerships and collaborations between the two organisations.

The meeting set up a definite agenda for cooperation between the two organisations to uphold both their missions to eradicate poverty through participatory programs, creating sustainable improvements in peoples’ lives by improving access to education and basic health care and promoting environmental health.

Makiya Al Hajiri, CEO, IHC said: “We are very pleased to welcome this initiative by the Swiss government to partner with us and support our efforts to provide the facilities that would enable aid to flow better and faster to disadvantaged people. As a humanitarian hub we share the vision and direction of HH Sheikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum and his commitment to providing the right level of support and services that can aid the humanitarian efforts in the region.”

According to Al Hajiri, the discussion ranged around the potential areas of partnership and co-operation with SDC including joint programs, trainings, and events to encourage and tackle issues related to rapid response in disaster areas.

Both Al Hajiri and Daetwyler are confident of an agreement between IHC and SDC to ensure continued excellent service in humanitarian activities in relation to rapid response and food aid.
