In an effort to continuously attract Emirati talent for suitable positions, Abu Dhabi Urban Planning Council (UPC), the agency responsible for the future of Abu Dhabi’s urban environment will actively participate at Najah 2009. Held from October 20 – 22, 2009 at Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC), Najah is deemed to be one of the most prominent annual education, training and careers event in the UAE.
The UPC, which is also one of the main sponsors for the 2009 edition of Najah, will host an interactive stand, wherein UPC’s human resources personnel will be present to disseminate career related information to students and visitors. The UPC representatives will also brief the visitors regarding UPC’s strategic role in the urban development of Abu Dhabi under the ambit of Vision 2030 by means of sophisticated presentation tools.
“As we progress with the implementation of several critical urban development masterplans, including the acclaimed Capital District, it is imperative that we complement a development of this magnitude with the relevant expertise, talent and enthusiasm. UPC’s participation at Najah 2009 is in line with our enduring commitment to constantly promote Emiratisation at all levels within the organisation and I am confident that young Emirati students and professionals will leverage this platform to acquire information on various career opportunities with the UPC” said H.E Falah Al Ahbabi, General Manager, Abu Dhabi Urban Planning Council.
Najah 2009, which is the second edition of this event, will also witness the UPC conducting preliminary interviews at its stand for various positions in the organisation. State of the art touch screen panels will be put on display for the visitors to enter their details and career preferences. The UPC recently initiated various learning and development programmes and career growth opportunities for suitable Emirati talent and details of these programmes will also be shared by UPC at Najah 2009.
The UPC has built an enviable reputation of being the preferred employer of choice in Abu Dhabi. Progressive human resource policies and a thorough scientifically applied internal personnel development method coupled with the presence of a dynamic working environment have ensured the attraction of the best talent for key positions at UPC. The Council is also in the final negotiation stages with a number of international institutions that will help it identify and adopt additional best-practice employees development programmes.
Besides its participation at career events such as Najah, the UPC has traditionally pursued an active student outreach programme across the Emirate. The UPC, had recently organised a special engagement programme at Al Ain Women’s College, wherein students were exclusively briefed on the key aspects of Plan Al Ain 2030.
UPC’s benchmark sustainability initiative, Estidama has also recently unveiled a ‘Fareej Design Contest’ which is open to all universities in Abu Dhabi. The Contest will engage university students in architecture, urban planning, engineering and related disciplines to learn and apply the lessons of sustainable design and construction for the design of a sustainable Emirati villa integrated in the local traditional neighbourhood – Al Fareej.
