Construction Work on Main Detour Road in Tourist Club Area Begins

October 21, 2009
Country: UAE
Client(s):

X Municipality of Abu Dhabi city (ADM), in cooperation with the Traffic Department of the General Directorate of Abu Dhabi Police, has started construction work to improve the main detour road in Tourist Club Area. Opened in early 2009 as part of the Salam Street and Eastern Ring Road Projects, the detour road facilitates construction work on the main tunnel with minimal traffic congestion.

ADM is keen on keeping construction work on schedule, bearing in mind that 53% of the work has already been done and the project is slated for completion in stages starting from early next year.

Municipality of Abu Dhabi city has taken all the necessary measures such as placing clear road signs and barriers to ensure the safety of motorists and keep traffic flowing smoothly. ADM continues to collaborate with various government agencies to effectively solve traffic problems and ensure the comfort of Abu Dhabi motorists, pedestrians and residents until the road infrastructure developments are done.

Al Salam Street Projects will help Abu Dhabi stand out as one of the premier capitals in the world through the development of modern road infrastructure and facilities. In line with Plan Abu Dhabi 2030, the projects will pave the way for the construction of bridges and tunnels to maintain a non-stop flow of traffic from the Sheikh Zayed Bridge until the Mina Zayed area, allowing up to 6,000 vehicles per hour and dramatically reducing the travel time on the road.

ADM emphasizes the importance of patience and cooperation from both motorists and residents in the success of the project. Once finished, Al Salam Street Projects are expected to boost the economic and social advancement of the capital.
