Coca-Cola Middle East will be bringing to Bahrain’s coast the first Annual International Coastal Cleanup, a global initiative that The Coca-Cola Company has been a part of since the activity was started in 1986. As part of the world's largest volunteer effort to help protect oceans and keep shorelines free from trash, and to mark the fourteenth year that The Coca-Cola Company Coca-Cola has sponsored the activity, more than 200 volunteers have been invited to join in the clean-up initiative at the beach in Seef district on Saturday, October 31, 2009 at 12noon.
Alexis Sacre, President – Middle East Business Unit, Coca-Cola said, “As part of our sustainability efforts, Coca-Cola Middle East is proud to support Ocean Conservancy and the International Coastal Cleanup in their remarkable efforts to remove the marine debris. This initiative is in line with our ongoing sustainable packaging and water stewardship efforts that help us to give back to our community and to promote recycling as a source of economic value.”

People who are interested to be a part of the environmentally-friendly activity are welcome to join in on Saturday, October 31, 2009 at 12noon, Beach adjacent to the Bahrain fort Museum, Seef District.
Coca-Cola has supported the International Coastal Cleanup since 1995 and has been the lead sponsor since 2005, raising awareness on the issue of marine waste. In 2008, Coca-Cola activated a network of over 50,000 employees and associates in 35 countries who volunteered for 200,000 hours to help clear beaches and waterways of debris.
