In a bid to increase its social participation in the Kingdom, and encourage cooking talents, the USA Rice Federation held a foodservice Chef Seminar and Competition hand in hand with the Jordan Applied University - College of Hospitality and Tourism Education - with the attendance of representatives from the US Embassy in Jordan, the press and U.S. rice traders.
The event included a brief presentation and a documentary about USA Rice Federation followed by a competition between five chef students from the Jordan Applied University which ended with two winning chefs Jamil Al-Taneeb and Louay Al-Masarweh who were presented with luxurious gifts from the USARF. The event closed with a delicious and freshly cooked open buffet prepared by none other than the talented chefs themselves.
Dr. Muhsen Makhamreh - Dean of JAU thanked the USA Rice Federation for their efforts by saying "This involvement had a great impact on the JAU student chefs and the attendees as well, I am delighted at the response and really enjoyed tasting all these dishes throughout the special atmosphere, filled up with entertainment and pleasure. I'd also like to thank those who attended… the specialized media people, US Rice traders in the Jordan market, in addition to prominent characters from the US Embassy in Jordan"
“This is only one of many activities to come,” added Mr. Fouad Abdel-Latif, USA Rice representative in Jordan, “we intend on following through with many more events and exercises that serve primarily to highlight our dedication towards partnering with the Jordanian people to discover and support talents whenever possible.”
