Butlers of Jeddah in a class of their own

November 04, 2009
Country: Saudi Arabia
Client(s): Rosewood Hotels

Rosewood Corniche has joined forces once more with the International Institute of Modern Butlers in an effort to raise the standards of excellence of the hotel’s celebrated butler team.

The award-winning luxury hotel is the standard bearer for personalised service in the Kingdom, but senior management refuses to rest on their laurels.  Their proactive initiative to further enhance the already acclaimed level of service sets Rosewood Corniche apart from the five-star hotels across the region.

Assisting Rosewood Corniche with their butler development is Steven Ferry, Chairman of the International Institute of Modern Butlers.   A world-class leader in hospitality service and founding member of the International Guild of Traditional Butlers and the International Institute of Modern Butlers, Ferry is the industry expert, having authored 20 books and hundreds of articles for numerous publications around the world.

Ferry visited Rosewood Corniche in 2008 and greatly contributed to strengthening the existing butler training programme.  The two-week interactive training sessions were a tremendous success, and Rosewood Corniche’s veteran team was eager for Ferry to return this year to introduce the hotel’s latest crop of butlers to the programme, as well as hone their skills and techniques.

“For the last thousand years, butlers have been employed to provide personal service for nobility, royalty, estate homes, and now luxury hotels,” said Steven Ferry.

“The butler lessons at Rosewood Corniche honour the time-tested methods of traditional butlering, but with a creative and modern approach, allowing us to update techniques and redefine state-of-the-art, discreet service.”

“We are pleased to welcome Steven Ferry back to Rosewood Corniche for butler training with the International Institute of Modern Butlers,” said Hans-Peter Leitzke, Managing Director of Rosewood Corniche.

“After a highly rewarding inaugural training programme last year, we are grateful to have him return to the property and provide our team additional instruction and innovations in butlering.  Steven truly shares our commitment to excellence, and his programme has been integral to our success in constantly delivering the highest level of personalised service to our guests.”

In a difficult global economy, there has been a great deal of emphasis placed on getting the highest value for money for consumers.  With information and reviews of every international hotel readily available on the internet, prospective guests are increasingly savvy in evaluating properties.

Rosewood Corniche’s partnership with the International Institute of Modern Butlers reflects and responds to this, inspiring brand and hotel loyalty by ensuring that guests are always provided with nothing short of flawless service.

Rosewood properties strive to constantly deliver outstanding levels of personalized service, and Rosewood Corniche’s initiative to refine its butler team is in accordance with the hotel’s reputation as well as the demands of discerning travellers worldwide.

Designed for both business and leisure travel, Rosewood Corniche is ideally positioned on Jeddah’s Corniche, one of the city’s most impressive districts.  The celebrated Jeddah Corniche runs parallel to the Red Sea for over 20 miles, and provides convenient access to the city’s business and leisure areas.

As the only ultra-luxury hotel in Jeddah, the stunning Rosewood Corniche redefines modern elegance and offers unparalleled personal service and world-class amenities.
