2nd Phase of the First Knowledge Society Project "My School is Beautiful" is launched

The Association of Queen Rania Al Abdullah Award for Excellence in Education announced the launch of the 2nd phase of the knowledge society project entitled "My School is Beautiful" (Madrasati Al-Ajmal) at the beginning of the 2009 school year. This is the first knowledge society project to bring together all the winners of the Queen Rania Al Abdullah Award for Distinguished Teachers, and is managed by the Association with the aim of fostering innovation, excellence and knowledge creation.

The 2nd phase will comprise of 15 schools from various directorates within the Kingdom. Within this context, the Association of Queen Rania Al Abdullah for Excellence in Education held a meeting on Saturday, the 10th of October 2009, that brought together all the 2nd phase's participants in order to give them feedback on what was achieved during the 1st phase of the project, clarify the roles of the Association officials involved in the knowledge society project "My School is Beautiful", as well as explain the role of the winning teachers and their school principals. In addition, an explanation was given on the work mechanism and follow-up process within the 2nd phase, and the Association distributed a knowledge society guide that was prepared based on the results of the documentation process that took place during the 1st phase. The Association's management assured the new participants that the guide's first draft will be developed and adjusted based on their experiences during the 2nd phase to prepare the final copy of the "My Schools is Beautiful" society guide. 

The "My School is Beautiful" knowledge society project is considered one of several activities launched by the Association of Queen Rania Al Abdullah Award for Excellence in Education, and aims at enhancing and actualizing the Association's vision in creating a safe, well-organized, healthy, beautiful and clean school environment.

The 2nd phase of the "My School is beautiful" project builds on the 1st phase that was conceptualized in 2008 and launched during the Association's meeting with the winners of the Queen Rania Al Abdullah Award for Distinguished Teachers on the 23rd of May 2009 in the Queen Rania Al Abdullah Education Technology Center in Amman. The 1st phase involved three schools and documented the various operations that took place; this information was then collected to issue the "My School is Beautiful" society guide's in its two parts: the Leader's Guide and the Committees' Guide. This guide includes a detailed explanation of the sequential work steps in order to facilitate their implementation in the schools involved in the 2nd phase.
 
Commenting on this phase, Ms. Lubna Touqan, Director of the Association of Queen Rania Al Abdullah Award for Excellence in Education, said: "The Association strives through the 'My School is Beautiful' knowledge society project to expand its activities and actualize efforts towards creating a Jordanian educational environment that is capable of yielding a generation of innovative and intellectual students capable of building the nation. We look forward through this phase to building on the achievements of the 1st phase, and we have prepared forms for the 2nd phase participants in order to create a practical method for following up and communicating with all participants. The Association's project organizers will also be closely monitoring the activities taking place during this phase."

She went on to add: "We are all responsible for implementing the 'My School is Beautiful' knowledge society project, as it involves various stakeholders within the education environment, such as students, teachers and principals, in addition to different elements from within the local community."
