What lies on the other side of Dubai, away from the luxury hotels, private beaches and expensive cars.

"people live according to their status and qualifications, you never can find an educated person living in such condition." I am sorry Mr Hamzah, I am quoting your statement, Please don't be judgmental too much because you don't know yet these people...they are just been forced by the situation but to imply that they are not educated is an insult and reflects manners.

Hamza,
Unfortunately you've missed the point and are more busy beating the 'Dubai drum'

Well, If this is true then if they accept this condition it means they live below this in their home country!! you leave your home country to search for a better life to live, as people live according to their status and qualifications, you never can find an educated person living in such condition. Dubai always tries to make a better standards for people to live, the new standards for labour camps has been improved, it should bigger space with a maximum of 4 people, as per the photos these kind of residence are living illegally and these people must be fined as this is not healthily environment to live.

Everybody knows this pitiful condition, even the highest official in the land. Mr. Hamzah is just denying the facts.
Does anybody know about sleeping on "shifts"? This is even worse and more pitiful. Because of the unaffordable high rent cost, people are sharing 1 bedspace that is why the bed occupancy is by shifting schedule overnight. Only in Dubai I know that it is not only work, but also sleep has shifting/timing schedule overnight.

This grim reality is not fake it is true i have seen it and know that even families live like this say 4 families in a 2 hall where there would be around 4 children also . The clamping by the government authoirites is one part ,are they enough low cost houses , easy accessible trasnportation to reach cheaper accomodations , long term vision for expat and help by employers by providing employee accomodation at subsidised rates .

Hamzah..
Like the Geenie in Aladin says "Wake up and smell the Hummus".. That's the way it is .. how do you think the thousands of shop assistants and cashier's stay on their 1500 salary, in a room that costs 3000 a month?
This is reality, hard as it be to believe.. It's the same in every major metro around the world.

Great reporting! Are there no building codes or are they on the books and not enforced?
