Bridgestone Corporation announced that a donation of ¥2 million will be made to support relief efforts for victims of the September 30 earthquake that occurred offshore Padang in West Sumatra, Indonesia.

Indonesia (BSIN), a Bridgestone subsidiary in Indonesia, also will be donating 200 million rupiahs (about ¥2 million) through KOMPAS, Indonesia's prestigious newspaper, and through Palang Merah Indonesia, a member of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies. Also, as a contribution for victims of the earthquake that occurred offshore Java, Indonesia, on September 2, 2009, BSIN will donate 50 million rupiahs (about ¥500 thousand) through the government of the province of West Java.
The contributions by the Bridgestone Group companies to the earthquake relief effort reflect the companies' longstanding commitment to Indonesia. In 1973, Bridgestone established BSIN as an operating company in the tire business, and the company has manufactured and sold tires for more than 30 years. Bridgestone Group also has rubber estates in two locations in Indonesia.
