Al-Futtaim Automotive, the UAE’s largest distributor of the world’s leading automobile brands, today announced the end of the first year of its inaugural apprentice programme, the first of its kind in the Middle East.

Ten young men were selected from over 60 applications for this pilot programme, conducted in association with Al-Futtaim Training Center, which trains candidates to be master technicians in three years – half the number of years it normally takes.

Rory Donald was awarded Apprentice of the Year and Muhammad Azmat Khan claimed the Most Improved Student of the year titles during the award ceremony to honour first year achievements.

Len Hunt Group Director – Automotive, Al-Futtaim said: “Apprenticeship is a key element of our strategy to develop talent. Many of our leaders of tomorrow will have gained a thorough understanding and appreciation of the business from this programme. Thanks to the investment and support of the Automotive group, the scheme will continue to grow from strength to strength in the years to come.”

The group’s automotive division represents Toyota, Honda, Volvo, Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge as well as Automall, Al-Futtaim pre-owned car division
