DUBAI - A Saudi man is prepared to divorce his Canadian wife, give her custody of their three children and let them all leave Saudi Arabia in return for $300,000, local daily Arab News reported on Sunday. The offer is the latest twist in a public two-and-half-year matrimonial dispute between Saeed al-Shahrani and his wife Nathalie Morin, the newspaper reported.
The dispute has reached such prominence that the case has been raised by senior Canadian government officials with their Saudi counterparts, the paper said.
Shahrani made the offer during a meeting with Canadian consular officials in September, the paper said.
Under Saudi law if a woman wants a divorce and her husband does not she must pay him an agreed sum of money to release her from the marriage contract, according to Arab News.
