As its first initiative in the insurance sector, the Emirates Nationals Development Programme (ENDP) today announced a partnership with the American Life Insurance Company (ALICO) to develop and employ UAE nationals and provide them with career opportunities in the insurance sector.

The shared vision was defined in a Memorandum of Understanding between Azzah Al Sharhan, Director of ENDP and Chris Bendl, CEO of ALICO.

ALICO, a leading multinational insurance company in the region, operates in 50 countries around the world and is currently celebrating its 85th anniversary.

Azzah Al Sharhan, Director of ENDP said: “We regard this partnership as a natural progression of our activities and programmes, following our successful association with market leaders in the banking, hospitality and trade sector.

“ENDP is committed to supporting ALICO in its endeavour to develop UAE nationals during 2007, providing training and recommending recruitments.”

ALICO has achieved much success in deploying its nationals’ development initiative across its branches in neighboring Middle Eastern countries, including Oman and Bahrain. The partnership with ENDP will allow ALICO to launch its recruitment drive in the UAE.

Chris Bendl, CEO of ALICO said: “We are pleased to be the first insurance company to partner with ENDP. We will work together in identifying and providing industry specific training to deserving young nationals, during the remainder of 2006 and through out 2007.”

Rabab Al Tajir, Gulf HR Manager of ALICO said: “ALICO has laid out its plans for the 2007 Emiratisation drive, and we look forward to working with ENDP to achieve our objectives. We believe UAE Nationals are not only an investment, but a high value-add to our business.”

ENDP’s work with diverse private sector industries has resulted in employment opportunities for more than 1,200 UAE nationals over the past six months alone.
