Jamie Donovan, participant in Manchester United Soccer Schools (MUSS) Dubai, operated by Dubai Sports City, has once again shown his superb football abilities by finishing second against 62 international competitors at this year’s Manchester United Soccer Schools World Skills final in Manchester, England.

For the second consecutive year, Jamie Donovan competed in the World Skills Final, improving on his overall third place in the competition in 2006.

Jamie said: “Winning second place at the World Skills Final was an amazing experience. I really wanted to beat my existing third place record, so I worked extra hard this season and I am glad my training has paid off.”

Donovan was presented with his award by World Cup winner and Manchester United legend Sir Bobby Charlton, in front of more than 75,000 cheering fans during half time at Manchester United’s two- nil home victory over Premiership rivals Blackburn Rovers.

John Shiels, Head Coach of Manchester United Soccer Schools in the UK said, “The World Skills Final is a remarkable experience for any MUSS participant as it shows that they have reached a good technical level and gives them an opportunity to perform against players from all over the world. Just being a part of this challenging competition is something to be extremely proud of.”

Throughout 2007, Manchester United Soccer Schools has delivered coaching courses around the world, with young player’s aged 7–18 taking part in a variety of Skills Challenges as part of the skills development programs. The winners from each of these programmes were given the opportunity to travel to Manchester to take part in the World Skills Final competition.

Donovan and Phillipe El Khoury were invited to represent Dubai at the World Skills Final following their impressive performances in the Manchester United Soccer Schools series of skills challenges, last season in Dubai. Their prize was an all-expenses paid trip to Old Trafford funded by Dubai Sports City.

Head Coach for MUSS in Dubai, Andrew Dixon, who accompanied Jamie and Phillipe, said “The boys can be extremely proud of their achievements and it is an experience which I am sure they will remember for the rest of their lives.”

It truly was an unforgettable weekend for all of the youngsters taking part and the chance to appear in next year’s World Skills Final will once again be open to all players participating in this season’s program in Dubai.

During this season’s skills challenge competition, Manchester United Soccer Schools will select two players to represent Dubai in the 2008 World Skills Final, in which the two lucky individuals will have the opportunity to follow in the footsteps of both Phillipe and Jamie and play in the world famous ‘Theatre of Dreams’, Old Trafford stadium.

Application forms for this season’s Manchester United Soccer Schools programme sponsored by Nestle Milo are available from the MUSS booking hotline 04 329 3313, or via the MUSS website www.muss.ae .
