Police raided Friday the Paris headquarters of Societe Generale, which is accusing a rogue trader of losing more than 7.0 billion dollars (4.9 billion euros), the French banking giant said.
"Raids took place yesterday evening," a bank spokesman told AFP without giving details.
The chief objective of the raids was to seize the computer files of the rogue trader Jerome Kerviel who the bank has accused of fraud, a source close to the investigation said.
On Friday afternoon police also raided an apartment where Kerviel lived in a building in the western suburb of Neuilly, witnesses told AFP.
