It's a new world out there and the design fraternity is facing newer challenges. Is the community ready to throw the gauntlet? What is going to be 'the future of design'?

This precisely is the theme for PIDC 2008, which will attempt to answer these and other questions posed at interior designers. Dubbed as the platform that 'brings together the finest minds in interior design', it's a day-long conference with some high profile speakers addressing some high octane issues.

“The clear focus of the conference is the future,” says Mr Sunil Prabhakaran, CEO of Interiors Quotient (iQ), the conference partner. “And as ‘the company for designers’, we at iQ are at the cutting edge of change, stepping into the future every day.”

“For iQ, being the conference partner makes eminent sense,” continues Mr Prabhakaran. “We aim to achieve market domination in interiors, through our big box approach – encompassing design, project management, furniture and contract material solutions to corporate, commercial, retail, hospitality and residential spaces.”

PIDC 2008 attracts design practitioners, architects, project managers, suppliers, developers and students. This audience may be disparate, but the challenges they face are the same. “The challenge of the future,” according to Mr Prabhakaran.

“The speed with which the design industry is accelerating, designers are under constant pressure to deliver against rising expectations, increased quality and sky-high responsibilities.
Do the designers need a helping hand? “This is where we step in,” states Mr Prabhakaran. “Today, designers need service providers who can translate their concepts on the ground: they need master executors. We have our job cut out – and in the process, we also offer them furniture, contract materials and accessories.”

The conference has attracted exceptional industry professionals, whose insights will be of tremendous value for the delegates. Mr Prabhakaran is clear about reaching his core targets. “Our target group has a clear definition: design companies,” says he. “We align with the designers; don’t compete with them. There are stalwarts here who have spent an entire lifetime devoted to design, and its our privilege to work with them. We look forward to the conference with keen enthusiasm.”
