Fabindia was set up in 1960 by John Bissell, an American who came to India to explore the possibility of sourcing Indian handloom textiles for export. Since then, Fabindia has encouraged the development and use of Khadi in its product range – the fabric that was Mahatma Gandhi’s chosen symbol for self-reliance. Fabindia supports and provides employment to over 7500 artisans around the country. It sources from over 300 suppliers across 20 of India’s 25 states. It has 23 stores across India. Fabindia products have a distinct identity that appeals to hundreds of thousands of loyal customers around the world. Fabindia has a company owned store in Rome and a flourishing wholesale business in the US. Fabindia also exports to customers in 30 countries in Europe, Asia-Pacific and the Middle East. |
